Requesting Transcripts
Transcripts are the official school record of courses and grades. Most colleges will require a current official transcript as part of the application process. The college you decide to attend will usually also require a final transcript at the end of your senior year. A final transcript indicates all courses and grades, including your final senior grades, your final cumulative GPA, and your graduation date, after your second semester senior grades are finalized and stored. Final transcripts are usually available about the second week in June, but not earlier, due to processing time.
Graduates/former students: Under the regulations of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), only students have access to their education records upon graduation. Parents cannot request records without written consent from their student.
DMACC transcripts must be requested directly from DMACC.
If you are a current student you have the option to obtain a copy of an unofficial transcript in your PowerSchool Portal via ClassLink.
ClassLink (Xello) Transcripts
Urbandale students may access their transcripts through ClassLink in three ways:
- via the ClassLink icon on the desktop of their district-issued mobile device
- by downloading the ClassLink Launchpad app from iTunes for Apple devices or Play Store for Android devices
- by visiting the ClassLink Launchpad website
Students will use their Urbandale Community Schools network username and password for any of the three options. Parents do not have access to ClassLink because they do not have a district username and password. Students may also access Xello directly without using ClassLink. Click here for the Xello website. Read these directions for requesting transcripts through Xello (PDF).

Each year’s graduating seniors can use the ClassLink website through June 30 to request a transcript. Then, starting July 1, students can request transcripts through the Xello website by using their personal login and password that will be changed before graduation. If you graduated prior to 2025 you will need to fill out this form.
Students will use the following instructions to configure their Xello account for after-graduation access.
- On any page in Xello, from the top right corner, click your avatar to open a drop-down menu.
- From the drop-down, click Account to open your profile details.
- In the Personal section, click the ‘Add Email Address’ link to insert your personal email address. A validation email is sent to the newly added address.
- Click the link in the email to validate your new personal email address. (Once you validate your personal email address, it becomes the primary address for notifications from Xello.)
Once your account has been configured you can use the same instructions found in the Instructions for Seniors Sending a Second/Final Transcript tab above.
Unofficial Transcripts
Unofficial transcripts can be provided directly to current students or parents, but these are not considered official records. For information on how to request an unofficial transcript, please contact your school’s counseling department.
