KAREN ACRES  AMBASSADORS

At the beginning of the school year each fall, 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to apply to be Student Ambassadors.  Ambassadors are students who live out the Karen Acres Way in school by being responsible, respectful, and safe. As a KA Ambassador, students serve as leaders in the school and help with younger students, demonstrate role model behavior, and have the opportunity to volunteer for special events at school and in the community.  Our guidance counselor, Mrs. MacGregor, is the staff leader for this group.

 

GIRLS ON THE RUN

Girls on the Run, a national non-profit organization, designs programming that strengthens 3rd grade – 8th grade girls’ social, emotional, physical and behavioral skills to successfully navigate life experiences.  At KA, 3rd-5th grade girls meet after school 2-3 times per week in the fall and the spring.  Each session ends with a big run where they run with other girls from around the area.   Kelli Bormann, 5th grade teacher at Karen Acres, is the group sponsor.  Communications are sent home when the sign-up opens in the fall and the spring.

KA 4TH & 5TH GRADE CHORUS

The purpose of the Karen Acres  4th & 5th Grade Chorus is to provide upper elementary students an opportunity to perform choral music outside the general music classroom setting.  The Karen Acres Chorus is a free, extra-curricular activity for any student who chooses to join.  Rehearsals are held before school once each week at 8:00am., and are directed by Lauren Voss, KA Music Teacher.   Information and sign-up is distributed to families by Mrs. Voss each fall. The chorus is featured at the 4th and 5th Grade Chorus and 5th Grade Band Concerts annually scheduled in the winter and spring.

KA 5TH GRADE BAND

KA 5th Graders have the opportunity to participate in band with Mrs. Wells.  Information about band participation and a sign-up is distributed to families of 5th graders prior to the start of school in July.  Band practices and band lessons are held during school hours one day each week.  The band is featured at the 4th and 5th Grade Chorus and 5th Grade Band Concerts annually scheduled in the winter and spring.  For questions, please contact Mrs. Wells.
