Urbandale Homecoming Week: September 16 – September 21. Go J-Hawks!

Karen Acres Homecoming classroom parties were FULL of J-Hawk spirit! Students enjoyed learning cheers, dancing to music, creating their own pom poms & building lasting memories with their peers. The UHS HOCO Court was greeted with smiles, cheers & even hugs! Shout out to our KA teachers, staff & families who created incredibly fun classroom parties. What a special day!! #KApride #UHSHOCO24

 

What a fantastic afternoon at the Valerius Fun Run! Students were able to run outside on a set path, be cheered at the finish line by the UHS HOCO Court, get press-on ‘U’ stickers & enjoy a snack outside in celebration of Homecoming Week. Many thanks to the UHS Homecoming Court and Valerius teachers, staff & families who made this event possible. So many smiles, laughs & TONS of positive energy! #VALpride #UHSHOCO24

6:00 p.m. Powder Puff and Ironman Event at UHS

  • This event is open to UHS students. Tickets for the event are $12 and include a t-shirt and snack. T-Shirt sizes and quantities are limited and orders will be fulfilled on a first come first serve basis while supplies last. Sales for shirts will close on Tuesday, September 3rd at 11:59 pm.

Thursday, September 19, 2024 

6:00 p.m. Homecoming Parade 

  • The UHS Homecoming Parade begins at Urbandale Middle School and ends at Urbandale High School.

5:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. UHS Street Party 

  • The UHS Street Party will take place in the UHS Parking Lot before and after the Homecoming Parade. We’ll have a variety of activities highlighting UHS clubs and teams in the UHS parking lot. 
  • Bring the kids for activities, autographs with the UHS football team, bounce house, and food trucks! (Note: food available for purchase) 
  • All Urbandale students, families, staff, alumni, and community supporters are welcome to attend.

Friday, September 20, 2024

5:00 p.m.– 7:00 p.m. Urbandale Lions Club Annual Homecoming Pancake Supper 

  • Urbandale High School Commons (lunchroom)
  • Free will donation

7:00 p.m. Varsity Football Game

  • Urbandale vs. Dubuque at UHS Frerichs Field; kick-off at 7:00 p.m.
  • Please make sure you are prepared to cheer on your J-Hawks at our home venues by either purchasing tickets in advance at www.j-hawks.com/tickets or purchasing tickets at the gate with a credit card (there is no cash option at the gate).
  • Please make arrangements to arrive early to the high school in order to find a parking spot, or park east or south of the stadium on neighborhood streets.
  • The presentation of the Homecoming Court will take place prior to the start of the football game (approximately 6:45 p.m.).
  • All varsity events will be streamed online at www.j-hawks.com/live

8:00 p.m.– 11:00 p.m. UHS Homecoming Dance “City of Stars” at UHS Commons

  • Cost is $10/person (Note: The Homecoming Dance is only open to UHS students and guests.)
  • Homecoming Dance tickets are on sale using the QR code on posters around the building or this link. 
  • All students must bring their School ID for admission Saturday night at the dance. 
  • If a UHS student is bringing a guest, the UHS student must bring the completed guest form the night of the dance to the door to enter, guest must arrive with the UHS student, and the guest must bring an official school or Iowa ID. A UHS student may only bring one guest. Guest forms will be available in the UHS main office starting Monday, September 9th. Any questions, please email: hansonk1@urbandaleschools.com

  • Wednesday 9/18: It’s Color Grades – wear your grades color to represent today! (9th Grade: Yellow, 10th Grade: Green, 11th Grade: Pink, 12th Grade: Blue)
  • Thursday 9/19: It’s Meme Day – dress up as your favorite meme!
  • Friday 9/20: J-HAWK Spirit
