For Valentine’s Day, the Key Club at Urbandale High School sells roses to raise money for their “Project Adopt a Family.” Key Club students spend time after school prepping the roses and creating bouquets to deliver them to students in the morning. This project allows the Key Club to “adopt” a family each year through West Des Moines Human Services. Throughout the year, students get to do many deeds for the family such as grocery shopping and gift giving. In addition to adopting a family, UHS Key Club members do many projects throughout the year for the community including the UCAN Fall Clean-Up, working the Homecoming Street Party, making tie blankets for various organizations, decorating cards for residents in nursing homes, and holding a blood drive.
