Metro West: Lifelong Fitness Begins One Pedal at a Time
Created on December 18th, 2024Every school year, every teacher at Metro West Learning Academy is encouraged to come up with a new project or innovation for their classroom, or the entire Metro West program, that will be beneficial to Metro West students and their educational experience. The initiative is called the “Yes…And Project.”
This year, Metro West Physical Education Teacher, Todd Maschino, took the initiative to an all new level. In a quest to engage students in the importance of lifelong fitness, Mr. Maschino contacted Bike World to share about the initiative and his goal of incorporating cycling into the new P.E. curriculum. The response from Bike World was extraordinary as they donated 15 reconditioned bikes to Metro West.
“We cannot thank Tom and the team at Bike World enough for their generosity and this phenomenal effort to support the students of Metro West,” said Metro West Director Mike Moran. When Todd Maschino came up with this great idea and contacted them, Bike World jumped in with both feet to help our students. We could not have asked for anything more and we are so grateful to Tom and Bike World and their positive impact on our students.”
“Thank you, Bike World, and specifically Thomas Davis for your incredible generosity and support in hosting a bike drive for our PE program,” said Maschino. Your donation is helping us inspire students to stay active, build confidence, and embrace the joy of cycling.”
Urbandale Community School District is thankful for the strong partnership with the Urbandale and Clive business communities and is grateful for this incredibly generous donation from Bike World. A special shout out to Mr. Maschino for his ingenuity and dedication to creating engaging and lifelong learning experiences for students. Well-done! #MWpride #allaboutU
