Community Education Coordinator 2024–25
Created on November 1st, 2024We are excited to share that Miss Jessica Walljasper has accepted the position of Community Education Coordinator. We welcomed her to the position beginning October 21, 2024.
Jessica Walljasper is a graduate of Grand View University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Sports Management. She also took part as a student-athlete on the university’s softball team for five years. This experience not only honed her athletic skills but also instilled in her the values of teamwork, discipline, and leadership which she is excited to carry with her to Urbandale Community Education.
For the past three years, Jessica has made contributions to the West Des Moines Parks and Recreation department, where she helped plan special events, youth camps, and various programs that enriched the community. Her commitment to fostering a love for sports and recreation among youth is fueled by her own experiences growing up in Urbandale, where she actively participated in youth sports. Jessica is excited to give back to the community by creating opportunities for students to thrive.
In addition to her work with parks and recreation, Jessica is also involved in coaching and mentoring young softball players. She provides pitching and hitting lessons tailored to the needs of young athletes and coaches a competitive 12u softball team. Her dedication to developing skills among young players showcases her passion for the sport and her commitment to helping the next generation of athletes succeed.
“I’m excited to be back in the Urbandale Community School District as the Community Education Coordinator,” said Walljasper. “I can’t wait to grow the programs that I was fortunate to participate in when I was a student here at Urbandale.”
