Announcing Our UHS Interim Dean of Students
Created on November 12th, 2024As previously shared, Urbandale High School Dean of Students, Jared Power, is transitioning into the role of Interim Director of Athletics and Activities. Knowing the importance of having two Deans supporting our high school students and staff, we are moving forward filling Mr. Power’s position on an interim basis.
We’re excited to share that Mr. Lance McConnell has accepted the position of UHS Interim Dean of Students. Mr. McConnell will be supporting UHS students with last names A – K for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year. He will serve alongside UHS Dean of Students, Dr. Russell.
Since 2007, Mr. McConnell has supported students, staff, and families in the Urbandale Community School District. For the past nine years, he has served as an Instructional Coach at UHS and Metro West Learning Academy, while also serving as the Site Administrator for the Elementary Summer School Program during two recent summers. Prior to that, he served as a 7th Grade Language Arts Teacher at Urbandale Middle School for eight years. Mr. McConnell holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration and Principal Endorsement from Northwestern College, a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Grandview University.
“I am excited to continue being a part of UHS and I am looking forward to working with our wonderful students, staff, and families,” said McConnell.
Please join us in welcoming Mr. McConnell as the UHS Interim Dean of Students. We’re fortunate to continue working alongside Mr. McConnell as he is a trusted, respected, and highly-valued member of our Urbandale team.
