About Me
I am the Industrial Technology Educator at Urbandale High School. Since 2001, I have taught woodworking, advanced woodworking, building construction, Computer Aided Drafting, and architecture. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2001 with a BA in Technology Education and a Minor in General Industry. I am a member of the IITEA (Iowa Industrial Technology Education Association), the UEA (Urbandale Education Agency), the ISEA (Iowa State Educators Association), and the NEA (National Education Association). Additionally, I have had several students place well at the Iowa Industrial Technology Exposition an annual competition for Industrial Tech students from across the state. My classes also contributed to community improvement with the building of a Free Little Library for the Karen Acres neighborhood. Above all, I believe that woodworking provides an opportunity for engagement and success, even for those not inclined to academic involvement, and helps students gain confidence as real world problem solvers.
