Welcome to UHS English!
My name is Nikki Smith. This is my fourth year of teaching at Urbandale High School. I previously taught for Colfax-Mingo for four years. Every school year, I am excited for the new opportunities and challenges that greet me. As an English teacher, I get to combine my three passions: reading, writing, and children. I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. I also enjoy photography, running, and being with family and friends.
I was born and raised in central Iowa. I am a UNI Panther at heart. I received my BA in English teaching in December of 2007 and my MA in English in May of 2012. Go Panthers!
As a teacher, I believe every student wants to learn. My job is to find the best way to help them achieve these goals. I set high expectations for my students and believe in their ability to exceed them.
