I am looking forward to a great year in in the Karen Acres music classroom. I graduated from Simpson College and for the past 14 years I have been teaching music in Waukee. I am excited to be joining the team here in Urbandale!

When asked why I teach music, I say that I want all students to have these lifelong music skills as a result of the curriculum I teach:

* Keep a steady beat to their favorite teams’ fight song
* Singing “Happy Birthday” in tune at a celebration
* Dance at a wedding celebration
* Appreciate all different types of music from around the world
