Welcome to 6th grade social studies!  This year we will be studying world geography.  Below I have listed our 6th grade learning requirements and our learning goal. Students can access our book online (see the ConnectEd link to the right.)  Students will also use Google classroom throughout the year.

Learning Requirements:

Students will learn about geography, history and culture in global regions. Students will analyze regional, physical and cultural characteristics of places to determine how those factors influenced, and continue to influence, people who live there.  Students will be able to:

1. Examine how people develop culture and value systems.

2. Explain how cultural, physical, and environmental characteristics impact people’s lives.

3. Explain connections between geography, culture, and history.

4. Analyze similarities and differences between Iowa and a different part of the world

Learning Goal:

By the end of the year, 100% of students will achieve proficiency (3) on summative assessments and projects.
