Dear Parents,
I am pleased that your child will be in my classroom for the next school year and I look forward to meeting you before school begins. I love teaching because the kids make each and every day very fun and exciting–there is never a dull moment! Second graders make huge leaps and bounds academically throughout the year. In previous school years, your child has been learning how to read; however, second grade is when kids start reading to learn and begin reading for enjoyment. It is important that we can work together to help your child reach his/her academic goals this year. 

After graduating from Drake University with my undergraduate degree in Advertising, I took a risk and moved to South Korea to teach English. I fell in love with teaching while I was abroad, which brought me back to Drake to get my Master’s in Elementary Education. I have endorsements in reading and English Language Learning. This is my fourth year teaching at Valerius. I love working at such a close knit school with lots of family & community support.

I appreciate love, laughter, and smiles in the classroom; I believe these attributes help build a positive community where everyone can feel safe, welcome, and ready to learn.
