Hello,
My name is Brent Monson, and the 2024-25 school year will be  my 33rd year at Urbandale High School. This is also my eighth year teaching in the RECESS program. I have spent my entire teaching career at UHS, and I’m proud to call myself a J-Hawk.

My goal is to provide students a safe and quiet environment with a focus on helping them learn how to help themselves.

My wife, Daphne, teaches instrumental music at Urbandale Middle School, and our daughter is a freshman  J-Hawk.

Strategic Goal for RECESS

By the end of the semester,  100% of all students will demonstrate an understanding of course power standards as measured by a score of 1.0 or higher on all common assessments.

Grades For Recess

Students in RECESS are graded on goalsetting,  productivity, and accountability in the classroom. Please contact me if you have any questions about your student’s grade.
