The Urbandale High School Academic Decathlon team earned Fourth Place at the Central Iowa Regional competition held on January 30-31, where they competed in academic events related to the theme Our Changing Climate.  The Regional teams studied very challenging materials to test their academic strength in Art, Music, Literature, Economics, Science, Social Science, Math, Speech, and Interviews.

Eleven individual awards went to five members of the team, which consisted of Kason Ha, Hailey Foster, Cayden Feldotto, Muqadas Ibrahimi, Gemma Juliano, Maddy Sanchez, Dylan Carrick, Brooke Jarrett, Cung Mang, Daniela Correa, Gabriel Ahmed, Adriana Bustos-Laparra, and Casey Carter.

Eleven UHS students will move on to compete at the State level, hosted at Waterloo East High School on March 7-8.  Any student can participate next year by enrolling in Academic Decathlon Class or joining the Academic Decathlon Club.  If you are interested in being on next year’s team, contact Carrie Baird-Forristall at bairdforristallc@urbandaleschools.com.
