UHS Celebrates Exceptional Visit with German Students and Teachers

During a farewell party on November 1, 2024, UHS students and teachers enjoyed celebrating the amazing experiences they’ve had over the past two weeks with students and teachers visiting from Germany. All UHS students who hosted or served as a “UHS buddy,” visiting German students and teachers, the UHS German Club leadership, Principal Tim Carver, and UHS German teachers attended the celebration.

This was the first German exchange group since 2018. As part of the exchange, UHS students who hosted and served as buddies will have the opportunity to visit Germany this summer (2025) as part of the Robert-Bosch-Gesamtschule (school in Germany) exchange program.

“UHS German teachers are very proud of what has been accomplished over the past two weeks,” said UHS German teacher Dr. Scott Seeger. “We have laid the foundation for a meaningful exchange that builds friendship, understanding, and empathy for our cultures. In a short reflection with German teachers, we shared key learning experiences over the past two weeks and discussed opportunities for continuing to share best practices between our school programs.”

During the farewell party, students and teachers had an opportunity to share a few last in-person goodbyes. The UHS and German students also voted to establish a partnership with the Robert-Bosch High School in Germany. Students and teachers from both countries signed the partnership charter, which was written by UHS students.

Many thanks to UHS Teachers and host families who helped make this international visit possible. It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved and provided world-class learning opportunities!
